As it happened!

Yesterday, the site scrap did happen as scheduled and we were so excited to see the portaloo! It also turned out that we're among the very first to have the site start in our estate.

On the note side, I haven't received any call from my site supervisor yet, so I'm not too sure whether the slab will be poured before or after Christmas. I should receive a call from him soon, I believe.

Construction drawing received

Today, we received the final construction drawing from PD. There are a few errors which need to be addressed before we could sign them. In the meantime, we're also waiting for the building permit approval as well. We'll post our construction drawings when it is finalised and most importantly, correct.

UPDATE: We received the amended construction drawings and now everything is good to go! Please check out our construction drawings in the menu tab.

The house plan and facade we chose - Bermuda Ferndale facade

We actually traveled to see plenty of the display house around Melbourne, from Keysborough in southeast to Wollert in north, from Plumpton and Williams Landing in west to Wantirna in East and finally we settled our choice with Bermuda because it doesn't only have the features we love but it also fit into our budget as well (We did blow our budget eventually lol). Nonetheless, we made a substantial structural change to the plan such as having double vanity basins in ensuite, adding a grand rumpus and grand alfresco and extending the kitchen as well.

We settled with the Ferndale facade because it gives us a grand look and there are also more windows than any other facade as well. Hopefully, the actual house will be as beautiful as we're hoping.

The story so far!

Well, where should I start?

My wife and I decided back in April 2014 to buy a land and build our dream house in SE suburb of Melbourne. We put a deposit for the land in May 2014 and it was just settled in November 2014. We also made a deposit for the building in May 2014, did the selection appointment in July 2014 and signed the building contract in August 2014. Although the built has not started yet, but we feel that it's been already a very long journey to where we are today. Many problems occurred in between those time such as problems with the bank (we need to change our bank because of the previous stupid bank manager), problems with the drawings as we changed quite a lot of structures, some of which are not allowed and some are allowed after a very hard fought with PD, the land title was also delayed and we also needed to apply for dispensation for our eaves as well, whooh, so many things!!!
